About This Product
Toto Primitivo 2022 is crafted from 100% Primitivo and aged in stainless steel. It shows an intense red colour with violet tones and aromas of cherry and plum that develop warm spice if left to open in the glass. Balanced on the palate, it pairs naturally with roasts, stewed game and rich meat sauces.
✓100% Primitivo
✓Cherry, plum and spice notes
✓Ideal with roasts and game
Serving Suggestions & Cooking Instructions
Roasted Meats & Game: This wine is “ideal with roasts.” Serve it alongside a herb-crusted roast leg of lamb or stewed venison. The 14% alcohol and structure of the 100% Primitivo grapes stand up beautifully to the richness of game meats.
Rich Pasta Sauces: Pair with a slow-cooked beef shin ragù or a traditional Lasagne alla Bolognese. The “cherry and plum” fruit notes provide a vibrant counterpoint to the savoury, umami depth of tomato-based meat sauces.
The Cheese Board: For a perfect match, choose aged cheeses such as Pecorino Pugliese or a mature Cheddar. The wine’s “violet tones” and warm spice notes complement the salty, nutty profile of hard cheeses.
Antipasto Pairing: Serve a glass alongside Hyde Farm Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Capers and grilled aubergines. The natural sweetness of the Primitivo grape harmonises with the concentrated flavours of Mediterranean preserved vegetables.
Preparation Tip: To allow the “warm spice” aromas to fully develop, pour the wine 20–30 minutes before serving. It is best enjoyed at a slightly cool room temperature of around 16–18°C.
Storage Instructions
