Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our authentic Italian products, ordering, delivery, and sustainability practices.
Hyde Farm started as a café on Emmanuel Road in South London—a little corner of genuine Italian food and good company in the heart of the Hyde Farm Estate. We’ve since taken things online, so the same carefully sourced products we serve every day in Balham can now be delivered to your door, wherever you are in the UK.
No shortcuts. No industrial flavours. No products that just look Italian on the label. It means our olive oil is genuinely cold-pressed from Puglian groves. Our pasta is made from ancient grains using slow-drying methods. Our taralli are baked to traditional recipes. Every product we stock has been chosen because it’s the real thing.
We’d love you to. We’re at 71 Emmanuel Road, Hyde Farm Estate, London SW12. Pop in for a coffee, have a browse, and see what we’re all about. Many of our online products are also on the shelf in the café.
The wheat and the drying time, mainly. Our Hyde Farm pasta uses ancient grain varieties like Senatore Cappelli—a heritage durum wheat that fell out of industrial favour because it’s harder to work with, but produces a far better flavour and texture. It’s also slow-dried, which preserves the natural proteins and gives it that rougher texture that holds sauce properly. The difference on the plate is real.
Many are—pasta, olive oil, jams, honey, biscuits. Anything containing alcohol is clearly labelled for adults only. For young children with allergies, please read the allergen information on each product carefully.
Sustainability isn’t a marketing claim for us—it’s a consequence of choosing the right producers. Small-scale, seasonal, low-intervention farming is the default for the people we work with. Ivan sees this on the ground when he visits.
For things like our olive oil, taralli, coffee, and pasta—yes, we often have options. The 5L olive oil is a good example. Not currently—UK only for now. (Slightly ironic given that we’re shipping Italian products out of South London, but international logistics is a different challenge.)
