In the early 20th century, Sanpellegrino’s innovative owner, entrepreneur and industrial chemist Ezio Granelli, introduced the world to the first ever orangeade by squeezing fresh juice of delicious oranges from South Italy into sparkling water, creating Sanpellegrino Aranciata in 1932. Served in what became the iconic Sanpellegrino glass bottle, it was a huge success, driving rapid expansion A Story of Tasteful Living Since 1899.

The Range Expands:

Building on Aranciata’s success and celebrating the company’s 50th birthday, new sparkling fruit flavours were created—Aranciata Amara (bitter version) gained immediate popularity, followed by Chinotto and Limonata. The world was drinking what was described as “a classy water for every class”.

Aranciata Rossa Arrives:

Aranciata Rossa—the blood orange version of the ever-popular Aranciata—appeared for the first time on shelves alongside the rest of the Sanpellegrino sparkling fruit beverages range, bringing the unique character of Italian blood oranges to the collection.

Today:

In 2019, Sanpellegrino fruit beverages evolved into Sanpellegrino Italian Sparkling Drinks, with the classic glass bottle restyled with a new, more premium and iconic look. The brand represents over 125 years of Italian beverage excellence.
