BRAND HERITAGE – ITALY’S LEMON SODA SINCE 1934:

The Beginning:

Lemonsoda was introduced in 1934 by Milan-based company S.A.G.A. (Società Acque Gasate ed Affini), owned by Ettore Casella, who previously held the Fonti di Crodo mineral water brand. The initiative drew inspiration from traditional Italian lemonades and the vibrant flavours of Sicilian citrus fruits, emphasizing authenticity through fresh Sicilian lemons.

Growth & Evolution:

After the original lemon flavour, Oransoda (orange) and Pelmosoda (grapefruit) were introduced in following years. In 1980 the brand was sold to Crodo, which became part of the Campari Group in 1999. In October 2017, the Lemonsoda brand was sold to Royal Unibrew for 80 million euros.

Lemonsoda Zero:

Introduced in 2010, Lemonsoda Zero was created as a sugar-free alternative sweetened with aspartame, acesulfame K, and sodium cyclamate to preserve the signature lemon flavour profile —delivering the same 12% Sicilian lemon juice without the calories.
